Over 62% of the Arch Cape Water District registered voters weighed in on the election of new District Board members. By comparison, the State had a 26% turnout and the County had a 31% turnout.
Barring an unexpected turn of events, the new Boards (* = newly elected) are:
Sanitary: Casey Short *, Darr Tindal, Jay Blake, Steve Hill *, Tom Mattia *
Water: Tevis Dooley *, Linda Murray, Chris Mastrandrea *, Bill Campbell *, Sam Garrison *
The election results will not be certified by the County until June 12th to allow for receipt of ballots postmarked by May 16th but delayed in the mails (last day is May 23rd) and resolution of any ballot challenges (by May 31).
Water Board Update & Transition Topics
1. The current Board voted to approve the expenditure of $100,000+ to thin 596 acres of the Watershed.
2. At their final meeting in June, the current Board will consider adoption of the 2023-2024 Budget and Long-Range Financial Plan.
3. Before their June meeting, the current Board will hold a work session to consider:
a. The “draft” combined set of public access and recreation policies for the Watershed and NCLC’s Rainforest Reserve that was prepared by the National Parks Service Committee
b. The ecological road assessment for the Watershed that was prepared by NCLC
